Master Class in Weave Design

A Home/Studio Study Course in Woven Fabric Design

AIM: To develop sensitivity to the elements involved in the design of a woven fabric. Students will be given projects practicing the technical and creative skills required for designing original and innovative woven fabrics.

It is tailored for weavers who wish to achieve a high level of sensitivity in all the elements of weave design, by participating in a comprehensive and structured programme of study.  It requires a huge amount of dedication and time to weave a huge amount of samples exploring weave, colour, sett, yarn and finish.

This course as taught before is no longer available.  Too many students were not doing the in depth weaving homework.

After six years of teaching this course however 21 students have graduated successfully.

I have however been asked to teach the content of this course to individuals.  The benefit of this is that there is more time to do the indepth sampling required.  It will be completed at the students own time scale. If you are interested please contact me.

Components

The course will be covering designs requiring 4 and 8-shaft looms or more.

I just love my yarn file – it is like a sweety box

‘I hope that you have recovered from the very exciting and exhausting days of Session 6. It was another fantastic course pulling together so much that we have done, and encouraging us now to focus on designing for specific purposes
